Disgusting But True

I am a morning person.  For real.

Morning people actually irritate the shit out of me, to be honest, so I cringe admitting this.

But I am.

While I really hate getting up early, I almost always wake up in an annoyingly pleasant here-I’ll-make-you-a-cup-of-coffee-and-chat-your-ear-off-about-how-wonderful-life-can-be sort of mood.

My sister is probably reading this shouting, “Die you bitch!” and chucking knives at the computer screen because she is the polar opposite in this realm.  In fact, she will bite anyone like a rabid wolf who dares so much as a good morning in her direction before she’s had a cup of coffee.

But, sadly, this disgusting truth remains.  I am a happy, chipper, annoying little fuck first thing in the morning.

In fact, although I sleep as late as I possibly can (which isn’t late at all with two kids), there is no more beautiful time of day than the early morning just as the sun rises.  The soft lighting (especially if it’s a rare cloudy morning), cool air, and the “ree-ree-ree-ree-reeeee” twitter of Cactus Wrens is especially refreshing and inspiring while I sip my morning cup of Joe.

Although it’s not a particularly early hour right now, I still have that sense as I write this.  It is that quiet moment where Julie is at preschool and April is still asleep, and my coffee is hot and tasty. Bliss.

There is this sense of quiet contentment with life that even in my pre-therapy-and-Prozac days the morning always brought, even if just for a moment.

Ah, I love the morning.

Hey, I feel good too if I get to sleep in (and I’ve had coffee). Try getting up at 5:30 every morning to go to a crappy job- I don’t think you’d be a morning person either ;-)

Did you scream “Die you bitch!” when you read that? :-D

Lol… been there, done that whole 5:30 am thing just to go to a crappy job. Yuck. I feel sorry for you.

No, didn’t scream that, but if you talk to me in the morning there is a good chance I’ll say that to you :) I feel sorry for me too.

ugh. i’m definitely standing on your sister’s side of the fence… i despise mornings, and if my kids weren’t in the room right now, i probably WOULD yell “die you bitch!” at the screen. i get grouchy just thinking about mornings… grrrrrr.

I like the mornings too, I get things done. I know that if I wait until I come home from work, I’ll sit on my ass, be a grumpy bitch and not want to do anything. Yeah, mornings rock!!!
