Something I’d Never, Ever Do

There’s a whole slew of things I wouldn’t ever do unless it were a “life and death” sort of matter.  I don’t have a problem with someone else choosing to do them… they’re just not my cup of tea.

  1. Eat a cockroach, or any other insect, for that matter.
  2. Pick a friend’s nose.
  3. Get a sex change.
  4. Try meth or cocaine or any of those other “hard” drugs.  I wouldn’t do any of the less-damaging ones anymore, either.  But I tried smoking some weed back in college, so I can’t say I’d never do it.
  5. Buy a gun.
  6. Censor myself or my writing.  I am who I am, and I just have to embrace that.
  7. Drive a state away (in an already different state than I live in) to meet up with someone that I met online.
  8. Become best friends with my sister-in-law.
  9. Give up coffee.
  10. Become a sports-enthusiast.  Sorry, I’m a dancer and that’s about it.  Ball sports bore me to tears.

Hm, so, notice that number seven has been crossed out.  Wanna know why?  It’s because I did it while I was in Oklahoma!

So, remember my internet friend who sent me coffee awhile back?

Yup, that’s the beautiful J whose coffee I drink every single morning!

Since I was only a state away from her while visiting my grandparents, we decided to meet up at the halfway point, Joplin, Missouri, which was a little over three hours away from my grandpa’s ranch. We figured that since we were only a state away instead of a gazillion miles away that we should probably jump on the opportunity to get together.

So we met up at a reptile park where I made love to a snake:

Yes, I’m a freak who loves snakes.  I can’t help it.  They’re just so damn cool.

And we hung out at a park where our four adorable kids played for a couple of hours.

We had such a great time chatting, and I am so glad that I crossed number seven off of that list above.  J is as cool in real life as she seems via the internet, and her kids are even cuter than they are in their pictures.

And while I had a little of that childish what if she thinks I’m a big dork and she doesn’t like me? fear, it passed as soon as we came face to face. It’s so great to make new friends.  It makes me feel like a million bucks.

Oh, and the bag of coffee she brought was definitely worth the drive, too.

Love the pics! So glad you had the opportunity to meet up. I’m still online friends with some wonderful ladies I met through IV when my son was an infant. We’ve met up several times and it was a terrific experience.
