For The Father Of My Children

I like to bake.  It’s no secret.  Just call me Betty Crocker.  If my coffee buddy moves to Seattle and opens a coffee shop, I’d gladly be her cookie and sweets head chef.  *hint hint*

So for Father’s Day, I told James to pick out any treat from my latest cookbook:

He decided upon this one:

slice

Which would have turned out exactly like that picture, I’m certain (*cough*), except for the fact that this happened while I was attempting to transfer the beautifully baked cake onto a wire rack to cool:

Thank goodness for Prozac, because that sent me into a fit of hysterical laughter so hard I could barely hold the camera instead of running out the door like a maniac and plunging myself into our swamp/should-be-pool screaming I want to die because I ruined the cake.

We were able to save it, luckily, with only a scar that I was sort of able to cover up with the chocolate glaze topping:

Beauty is truly only skin deep, though.  The All-Chocolate Boston Creme Pie is moist, rich, and chocolaty enough to clog your arteries with one bite.  Success, if I do say so myself.

Oh, and I surprised him with this for his desk at work, too:

daddys-present

I got kind of crafty and made him a cute frame complete with pictures of his precious spawn.  Also known as his daily reminder of why he’s getting a vasectomy.

And yes, in case you were wondering, James really is the best dad imaginable.

And he puts up with my crazy ass, so he deserves every bite of that cake.

    I HAVE THIS COOKBOOK!
Well, I’ve had it for well over a decade, so maybe I have an earlier version, but it’s very good.

If they still have the recipe for the chocolate raspberry cheesecake, I recommend it with 2 thumbs and both my big toes up. If they don’t have that recipe and want it, I’ll share it with you. It’s nothing but chocolate-yum-goodness.
