Finger-Pointing and Lie-Telling
Maybe I’m a bitch for saying this, but I don’t care.
If you’re going to tell lies, expect that people will eventually call you out on it. When the majority of people you are speaking with begin to smile and nod with a glazed-over expression at everything you say rather than give you honest feedback, chances are they can see through your bullshit.
Furthermore, you need to understand that stretching the truth and extreme exaggeration also fall under the “lying” category for most people. And making a huge deal out of almost nothing on a consistent basis? It screams attention-seeker. Expect eye-rolling. It’s going to happen.
We all suffer through our own fair share of pain and drama and horrific events. But constant, crazy, outlandish, barely-believable drama? Especially that which bears plenty of inconsistency and holes? When your equation of 1+1=3, expect that a large portion of your audience is going to notice.
And for the record, when someone (or many people) finally let you know that they think you’re full of shit, simply telling everyone you would *never lie* about [insert topic here] means jack-diddly-squat. You’ve already made it pretty clear it’s fairly impossible to trust anything you say. You’d get a much better response if you ate your previous words and just came clean. Sure, you’d still piss a lot of people off, but at least your own conscience wouldn’t be there to nibble on your sanity (or lack thereof) as well.
Looking for attention? Try being honest. With the exception of morons who like to live with their head stuck up their butt, most prefer talking with someone they’re going to get a straight story from. It’s much more interesting.
Even if it’s not always super nice.
