Oh Yes, I Went There. And I’m Going Again.
I am so beyond irritated that it’s Natural Family Planning Awareness Week that I feel like hanging my head out the window of my car and chucking condoms at everyone I pass.
I’ve written a glorious blog about my experiences with using NFP called “Sex, A Big, Fucking Deal“.
You should read it. You know, in honor of “NFP Awareness Week”. Perhaps I ought to ask James to hack all the sites marketing the use of “Natural Family Planning” and post my blog entry about it on their front page.
Oh, and by the way, when we found out we were pregnant with our first baby, I really thought of having a T-shirt made that said, “NFP Worked For ME!”… and it wasn’t a good thing.
Yes, I am angry. Very, very angry.

I’ve thought about using it before, but I really don’t know enough about it. We’re not super good about using condoms, but I don’t really want to get on a pill either. I guess the good thing is, he’s out of town often enough so we don’t have to worry about getting pregnant anyways!

Honestly, it’s a wonderful method in a lot of ways. I’m not against using it at all… especially since we actually DO still use it. However, what I’m against is the Catholic dogma added to the method… that’s where I get EXTREMELY angry!

I think that being in tune with your body and how it works is a wonderful thing. I don’t think that forcing people in the name of religion, or any other name, to not use a birth control method that works for them is right. I responded to a post today about NFP. I can only hope that the person it was to will not take as much offense reading mine as I did reading hers.
