An IM Regarding James’ High School Reunion

This conversation is for real.

Tamra: BTW… found your high school reunion- lol
[insert link here]

James: Found?

Tamra: Aw, honey- your name is on there!

James: good god

Tamra: lol- for real.  I was laughing really hard when I saw your reaction just now- lol.

James: haha

Tamra: You’re one of the “missing dorados”!

James: I’m disgusted

Tamra: lmao

James: It’s like a nauseating walk down memory lane… then getting hit by a bus

Tamra: lol- seriously, I’m LMAO!
Julie’s like, “Mom! What’s wrong!”
Guess she doesn’t know laughing’s a good thing…

James: hehe

I missed my high school reunion this weekend.  On purpose.  While there are plenty of really great people that I still keep in touch with via Facebook and Myspace, there is not one that I don’t already talk to that I felt like I needed to reconnect with.

It’s nice to know my honey feels the same way about his own upcoming reunion.

And seriously- doesn’t his, “It’s like a nauseating walk down memory lane then getting hit by a bus,” comment just make you nearly choke on that last sip of coffee/water/soda/piss/whateveryoudranklast?

Who are reunions made for? I don’t a single person who looks forward to them…or even goes to them for that matter.

My high school had a five year and I got dragged there by friends who assured me I’d have fun…and I found it just as boring to watch people do keg stands when I was 22 as I did when I was 17.

LOL, Reunions are made for the popular cheerleader, who didn’t get enough of every one else’s attention the first time around. The rest of us skip them.

    I went to mine – there’s 3 hours I’d like back…

It was cool to see a handful of people. But a lot of it was awkward and not fun. Nothing like running into old grade school clicks to make one feel insecure and nerdy all over again!

Getting hit by a bus sounds like more fun.

I really didn’t enjoy high school in general. I had a few close friends and that was it. I’ve never been to a reunion so maybe they’re awesome or something, but I just don’t see the appeal.

I figure either you’re single and going there to try to find someone or you’re going there to brag about how successful you’ve been. I’m not single and don’t care if other people think I’m successful or not.
