Dude, Now THIS Is Just Stupid
Sunday, August 16th, 2009I just finished reading a novel- a very nice story, mind you- and I couldn’t resist an eyeroll when James asked what it was about.
Yes, like I said, it was a very nice story. The part that bothers me is that it was yet again just another completely bogus and unrealistic view of pregnancy, birth, parenthood, and relationships.
The main character gave birth to twins. Naturally. In a hospital. Without any intervention. *cough*… Oh, and then? Then she went on to fall madly in love with her little creatures with a passion that could sink a thousand ships. Yeah right. THEN, as if none of that was enough to make me practically bust a gut laughing, THEN you know what freaking happened? She was able to breastfeed both of those babies without a hitch *snort* for six months. Oh, and this was a single, working mother. How believable, right?
And that? That wasn’t the best part. The best part was that the author politely went on to describe the phenomenal sex with a first-time partner months after the birth of those twins and the woman was only self-conscious about her post-baby body for a few seconds.
HELLO? Are any other mothers finding this utterly ridiculous?
Stupid book.
Clearly, the author has either A) never given birth; B) smokes way too much crack; or C) is in complete denial.
ARGGGGG!
Did I mention that it was a *very nice little story*?
