Throwing Myself Out There For Criticism
If you’d like to see why I never get enough sleep or why I complain about my battered feet all the time, here you go:
Some video taken after a late-night dance last week of a friend and me doing West Coast Swing, a.k.a. my passion.
It’s a completely unrehearsed, totally led/followed, ad-lib dance, and it wasn’t part of a performance of any kind. Just a regular, relaxed social dance. The song is “After Dark” by Tito and Tarantula. I really like this video because it’s one of the first times I’ve been able to watch myself groove on the dance floor and haven’t been cringing the whole time.
Yes, this is what I spend all my extra time doing. I’m what is known as a “Dance-o-holic”. I just can’t get enough.
And last night I was basically offered a job as a local independent instructor through a downtown studio. Wow.

I have to wonder who could possibly criticize? I don’t know much about dancing but it looked great to me! It’s no wonder your husband likes to dance with you AND watch you dance!

You look awesome. Are you even wearing shoes? Your feet look like they are just floating! : )

I wish I could dance like that! I loved watching it. You looked amazing.

The only thing wrong is the title of the post – what I saw was “Sharing my Passion” – I’ve always loved watching you dance and that was a super-fine example of the beauty of West Coast Swing when the partnership clicks. Thanks so much for sharing it. Cancel, cancel on the criticism thoughts!

Wow! You are a great dancer! And this was basically “ad lib”?
Awesome!!!!! What a cool style of dance – very smooth!

Lady Coyote- The smoothness is one of my favorite things about West Coast Swing! It is completely led and followed (technically one of the ballroom dances), but there is a lot of freedom and room for expression within the lead. None of it was choreographed, but the idea is to express the music in such a way that it almost looks like it could be a routine… but it’s actually completely ad-lib.
