What do you love about yourself?

I need a pick-me-up today, and I need your help.

See, on my “bad days”, I get really obsessive about hating specific things about myself, particularly my body. It’s those things that I can’t change that I suddenly can’t get out of my head. Something minor, like a simple zit, starts out as a tiny annoyance but ends up being the only thing I can see and I hate myself because of it. Logically, I know it’s stupid, but it doesn’t stop those obsessive thoughts. Such is the life of someone living with OCD. It sucks.

Sometimes, I can replace those negative thoughts with positive ones, but last night it got particularly bad again. I had a full-blown anxiety attack, started feeling paranoid, and got into a conversation with James that involved him making me promise I’m not going to give up on life.

So today, I’m trying to take a different approach, and this is where you can help. I want to know, what physical things do you like about your body and why? Do you have a soft, curvy figure that you love? Or do you have a nose that just seems to fit perfectly on your face? Is it the imperfections that make a particular part of you beautiful in your mind? Try to come up with at least two, and if you can keep going, you’re gonna rock my blog today!

Hearing others talk about things they love about themselves really helps put me in a more positive mental state.

Here’s mine (I know, I’m actually going to say I LIKE something about myself. Don’t die of shock, okay?):

I really love my legs- even my thighs- and I’m also damn proud of my breasts. Why? My dancer-legs are long and shapely, and I think they look really freaking sexy when topped off with a very short skirt and a pair of hooker-heels. And as for my breasts, they’re soft and full and still perky as hell even after nursing two babies. They also manage to fill out any shirt or dress I try on, and they’re big enough to show off just the right amount cleavage that I’m comfortable flaunting.

There, I did it. Okay girls (and guys… you can run, but you can’t hide… I know you’re reading this) Your turn!

I love my breasts! They aren’t as perky as they were pre-baby but with a good bra they look amazing. I also love my eyes, the are a pretty shade of blue and I have always gotten compliments on them. I like my legs too, I look pretty darn good in a mini skirt if I do say so myself.

I just wanted to be the first to comment!!!

Ok..well…I love my blue grey eyes. Does that count. I really don’t hate anythign enough to obsess about it. I may be unhappy but I know what I can do to change it, well other than my crooked nose. If I was disciplined enough I could be skinnier and maybe not so unhappy with things but I am not. My crooked nose doesn’t really bother me so much. I would never go under the knife…same for my already sagging titties at 29. Oh well…but that is just me. Thankfully hubby loves me they way I am.
When I was younger I used to love my muscular legs, now I hate them because that is the first place I gain weight, along with my ghetto booty.
Oh wait…you wanted to know what I loved about myself? shit…opps…

  3. Amber Says:

dammit, there was no posts here when I started that!!!!

Ok, I really love my natural hair color. It’s not quite blonde, brown, or red. And it’s really unique. I guess, I like my hair all around. It’s always soft and shiny, and has enough wave to wear it however is easiest that day.

I also like my eyes. They constantly change colors. Yesterday they were almost gray. Today they are green. Just about any color eye shadow I wear brings out a new color.

These are kind of easy I guess, but I don’t have the energy to come up with others.

Ok when I am in good shape, and I can cover up with clothes I do have a really nice hour glass shape with cleavage…walking down the street alone I can get a lot of attention. Or I used too…

What I love most about myself hmmmm, I love my eyes not he actual eye ball. I love the top where shadow is placed. Is very large which helps shadows look great. I also have to say I love my nose is small and squared no bumps. Also (sorry getting carried away) I must say my breasts! Our friends seem to love them LOL, they always comment on the twins.

I love my eyes. They are an excellent bright blue that sparkle when I’m happy, flare searingly when I am angry and allow me to see the world. I can see beauty around me and the beauty that I hold with my eyes.

I love my hair. It changes colour depending on where the light hits it and is straight and thick. I can braid it, wear it up or wear it down and it all works decently well. It grows quickly, so even when my favourite hair dresser has a (very rare) off day, I only have to live with a less-than-pretty cut for a short period of time. It’s extraordinarily pleasurable to have my hair brushed; it’s my favourite form of relaxation sometimes.

I love my skin. It’s soft, it’s relatively clear, and whenever I am touched it feels so good! It also holds my body all together and allows me to feel the sunshine, the wind, the rain, the snow, all of the seasons outside whatever they may be. I especially love the skin on my back and on my thighs — those are my favourite spots to be touched.

I love the muscle under my skin. It allows me to move with a purpose throughout the world and control where I am going and how I get there. I especially love the muscle in my legs. They feel soft but there’s steel under there, to run and jump and wrap around my lover.

I love my hands. I hold babies, I hold toddlers, I hold little children, I hold big children, I hold adults in these hands. My hands are soft and allow me to touch the world. They type, allowing me to speak to people I would never speak to otherwise. My hands connect me to my world.

Thank you! This was an excellent idea!

I love the curve of my rib case down around my hips, especially when I’m laying down. My skin is (thankfully) super soft, so when I’m laying down on my side, especially after a shower….or other activity, I feel incredibly sexy and, for lack of a better word, womanly. I find myself standing in particular positions at work or the way I walk that accentuates my ass, cuz there’s some junk in this trunk, but my waist is relatively small. So thankful to be curvy :)

  9. Nobody Says:

i’m in a massive slump right now. i ended up writing an entire privately published blog post in my attempt to find something i liked about myself, and after degrading nearly every inch of my body i realized that i like my collar bones. choker necklaces (if i had any) would look great on me, as long as i’m not showing off any of my saggy cleavage. i’ll leave it at that, in an attempt not to talk bad about the rest of myself.

  10. Rikki Says:

Oh I also love my waist. I’m a curvy hour glass figure type and with the right clothes looks amazing. I like this post! It makes me feel good about myself! :-)

  11. LC Says:

My booty is what my hubby first said he noticed (physically) about me. I have a nice bum, apparently! I’m happier about my body when I have been working out more — right now snow is preventing me from doing a lot of stuff outside. (Excuses, excuses.)

  12. Lisa Says:

I like my big brown eyes..I have always gotten compliments on them..My friends used to tell me that I had a “perfect nose”..LOL..I love my breast..(yes even after 4 nursing babies)..And I love that I have naturally curly hair!!
I agree Rikki..Love this post..I love reading what you ladies love about yourselves..I’ll check back later for more post…
    Tamra..You Rock!!!

  13. Andy Says:

I like my blue eyes. They go great with blue shirts! For the second thing, I enjoy that I have a great metabolism. It runs in my family and allows me to enjoy many great things about life.

  14. Tamra Says:

Aw! I LOVE what you all have to say!! It definitely brought some things to my attention as well… I have to say, I really like that I’m shaped like an hourglass. Yeah, so out of clothes the cellulite and weird bulges and stretch marks make me avoid the mirror… but in clothes, I love that I have a small waist, and some clearly defined T&A!

  15. Dana K. Says:

Well this is a rough one for me. I have had bad body image and even worse self-esteem from day one, so to write anything here is a challenge.

I will say that I like my eyes and my full lips. And I’ll work on liking the rest.

  16. Christa Says:

I like my nose actually. I think it’s cute and fits my face perfectly. It’s always been my favorite feature. I also like my eyes because they are hazel. They are more green with a hint of brown in the center but they also change color depending on what I wear. Sometimes they are more green and sometimes they are more brown.

  17. Ellie Says:

OK so I would have to say my boobs are my favorite. They are big, real and look nice in the right top of course in the wrong top I look like Dolly Parton. :)
My BF would say its my rear, he describes it as robust(nerd). Guess that makes me round in all the right places or something like that.

  18. LauraW Says:

I’ll go with my hair. It is thick but not crazy thick. it is wavy so I can make it curly if I want or straighten it no problem. My Mom always told me how lucky I was to be able to take a shower, not touch it and it dries nicely :)

  19. Tamra Says:

OOooo… you girls with easy hair… I’m so jealous!! :-)

  20. Rosanne Says:

Ooh – didn’t realize this might be hard to do.

OK – I love my hair – long, thick, naturally curly, fabulous.

I like my hazel eyes a lot.

I love my lips and my smile.

Good Italian genetics – few wrinkles, great skin (my dad is almost 102 and he has great skin too).

    Fabulous gigantic breasts.

I love my hands – very expressive.

My toenails are pretty cute too – after polishing other people’s toes on occasion, I really like mine!

    Good collarbones too.

    Thanks for this opportunity, Tamra!

  21. crazynursingstudent Says:

My fiance would say his favorite part of my body is my boobs and rear. If it weren’t for him, I think I would have chopped the both of them off already, but he enjoys both way too much! He also compliments my skin a lot too. He says it is so soft.

My favorite part of my body is probably my face. I have clear skin, full lips, a nice smile and bright blue expressive eyes. I have lost some weight, and now that I have I actually really like my boobs. Before I lost weight, they were WAY too big, but now they are perky and perfect for my shape. My fiance can’t take his eyes off me when I wear a cleavage-enhacing top, even if my hair or makeup aren’t done!

Thanks for doing this, Tamra! Such a good idea!

  22. Ashley Says:

I think I’m going to be one of the hair girls. I love my hair (most days). It’s not too thick (great for the TX/LA heat and humidity). It has an awesome natural red color and when I am in the sun in the summer, I get gold highlights. There is no taming this hair: I shower, towel dry it, and let it go. I am complimented on the color and the curls often.

I also really like my eyes. They are brown, but they match my hair. I think they are the perfect combination!

  23. Kim Says:

I really love my blue eyes. The color is so pretty and they really stand out when I wear blue.

I also have a mole on my face which I could find annoying, but I actually love it. It’s something that makes me different and unique.

Oh, and I love my smile! All the years of braces really paid off. As much as I hated wearing them when I was younger, the end result is so worth it.

  24. ATroutt Says:

I like my hair on most days too. It’s not so much the color, although I love it during the summer when it has a nice red hue to it with blond highlights (weird but pretty. I also have this thing about my hands. I love my hands. I noticed about 3 months after my grandma died that I have her hands, so I love my hands! I love to get my nails done to accentuate them to! :-) And while it’s not a physical feature, I like my laugh, it’s unique!

  25. Kimberly Says:

I really do love my hair. In fact, it has spawned a bob movement at work. Seriously…3 people have told me that they were going to get the same cut…which is annoying but flattering. I even get strangers come up and tell me that they love my hair the colour, the style, the shine. Ahhhh. It makes me feel good.

Now only if they would talk about my ass that way…

I also love the fact that my stomach post baby isn’t all stretched out. It’s flat too. You can all hate me now.
